The RBC Innovation & Entrepreneurship Speaker Series is back!

Join us Wednesday, November 28th to hear from a U of T startup alumni success story.

Dr. Abraham Heifets, CEO of Atomwise, will sit down for a fireside chat with Professor Cynthia Goh, Academic Director of University of Toronto Entrepreneurship & Executive Director of the Impact Centre, to discuss his path from a U of T Ph.D. student to heading a growing company that recently raised growth funding in Silicon Valley. They'll explore what it was like to be an AI company back in 2012, the potential to use AI to support drug discovery, the types of support Abraham relied on at the early stages of his startup, his difficult decision to move Atomwise to Silicon Valley, and the future directions of the company after raising $45M USD Series A earlier in the year.

Speaker Bio
Abraham Heifets is the CEO of Atomwise, which uses artificial intelligence to help discover new medicine. Abraham joined Impact Centre's Techno entrepreneurship training program in 2012 where he co-founded Atomwise. Abraham was a Massey Fellow at the University of Toronto and the Ontario Brain Institute, where his doctoral work used machine learning to help plan organic syntheses, a long-standing challenge in chemistry. Previously, Abraham researched high-performance data processing at IBM's T.J. Watson Research Center and contributed to the artificial intelligence system of the world-champion robotic soccer team at Cornell University, from which he holds two previous degrees. Abraham has presented his work at the National Institutes of Health, the American Chemical Society, and the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence. He is an author on 19 papers, patents, and patent applications.
