Speaker Biograpy:
Paul Petrelli
A business leader in the Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical Industry, Paul has a proven track record of performance and experience leading people and businesses in biotechnology and rare disease, both in Canada and the United States. His experience includes building and growing businesses with companies such as GlaxoSmithKline, AstraZeneca, Biogen and currently, Jazz Pharmaceuticals. His 20 years of proven success is built on extensive launch experience, lifecycle management and breadth of understanding in sales, marketing, market access, medical, government relations and regulatory affairs. Paul’s experience transcends the financials, he also lead organizations in creating a winning culture, being recognized as a Great Place to Work in Canada for multiple years.
Paul’s commitment to business and people leadership goes beyond his current role; he is an active board member with The Lymphoma and Leukemia Society of Canada, The Biomedical Discovery and Commercialization Program at McMaster University, Department of Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences, and serves as chair of Biotech Canada. Paul also contributes as Director–in–Residence with the Rotman School of Management, Director of Education Program, as a member of the Capital Access Advisor Program, Ontario Bioscience Innovation Organization. Additionally, he serves as faculty on the Marketing Pharmaceuticals in Canada Program, the National Pharmaceutical Congress and is a Member of the Life Sciences Advisory Consortium, City of Mississauga.
Paul has a Bachelors degree in Biology, Genetics, from the University of Toronto and is a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors program at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.
Host Biography:
Brian Knight, PhD, MBA
Brian Knight earned a B.Sc (honours physiology & psychology) from Western University (London, Canada) and Ph.D. (physiological genomics) from University of Toronto (Toronto). He later completed his MBA at the Rotman School of Management (Toronto). Dr Knight then worked as a management consultant for RWS and Optimus SBR, advising healthcare organizations. He later joined Roche to lead innovation. Brian then co-founded the Exponential Exchange, a digital advertising agency. Brian is currently the president of Knight Labs Inc, a creative agency that he founded that offers an innovative approach to building audience engagement for its clients. Brian also guest lectures at the University of Toronto and serves on the board of directors for the Science to Business Network (S2BN).
