Life Sciences Ontario is back again during Global Biotech Week (September 27th – October 1nd) for our second Annual Virtual Roadtrip around the Province. We’ll be exploring 5 specific ecosystems in Ontario to find out what the Life Sciences sector looks like in their region, what makes their region unique, and what resources are available. The presentation for each day will be from 9:00-9:30 am.

Speaker:
Ian Lane, Manager Research Capacity and Health Innovation Cluster Business Manager, ICES North

Prior to moving to Ontario, Ian Lane was the Manager of Policy Development and Settlement in the Ministry of Innovation and Advanced Learning with the Government of Prince Edward Island. He was responsible for developing adaptive policies to attract and retain youth, newcomers, temporary foreign workers, and international students. He was Chair of the Atlantic Population Table’s Awareness and Retention Committee, which oversaw granting opportunities to settlement agencies in Atlantic Canada. Ian is now Manager of Research Capacity and Health Innovation at Health Sciences North Research Institute in Sudbury where he helps researchers and physicians attract external and internal funding opportunities and provides strategic grant development support. He has supported the attraction of over $10 Million in external funding since joining HSNRI. He is also the Project Manager for the Northern Ontario Health Innovation Cluster. He is an active Rotarian and has volunteered his grant writing skills to various community and non-for-profit organizations in Ontario and Prince Edward Island. Ian holds a MA from Ryerson University in Immigration and Settlement Studies, a BA in Canadian History from the University of Prince Edward Island, and a Diploma in Commercial Music from Humber College.
